The UK based developer Introversion has won three awards at the 8th Independent Games Festival at the GDC in San Jose for Darwinia. The team won the awards for Innovation in Visual Art, Technical Excellence, and the Seamus McNally Grand Prize worth $20,000 for their work, where players have to stop a series of viruses from decimating a virtual AI.

Nominated for four awards, Darwinia failed to win the award for Innovation in Game Design, which went to Number None's Braid.
