Activision begins to drip feed information on the upcoming fifth Call of Duty...
Heading to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and PC in a matter of months, Activision has today confirmed that the fifth incarnation of Call of Duty, entitled 'World at War' will include local and online co-operative gameplay.
Attesting to the game's mantra that 'No One Fights Alone', Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC gamers will get to play through the US and Russian campaigns of World War II as part of a team. Two-player co-op, described as a 'unique campaign', will be available for Wii.
Besides co-operative play, the multiplayer campaign also includes competitive action, with players set head-to-head objectives as missions progress.
"With Call of Duty: World at War, we're re-defining what it means to play a WWII game," said Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. "We're excited to give players a host of new enemies that employ entirely new tactics, as well as new, groundbreaking tools - like co-op and the flamethrower - to succeed in the epic fight."
Call of Duty: World at War is scheduled for release later in the Autumn; expect more details shortly.
