The super-developer confirms the merger of Shiny and The Collective...

US-based super-developer Foundation 9 has today confirmed the merger of two of its studios, The Collective and Shiny Entertainment. The two outfits recently moved into new premises in Irvine, California, though what the newly merged studio will be called is yet to be decided upon...what's so wrong with The Shiny Collective???

Both studios are currently working on various titles, with Shiny continuing to put the finishing touches on the adaptation of The Golden Compass for SEGA, and The Collective developing Silent Hill 5 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

"Bringing the Shiny and Collective teams together into one larger studio will give them the scale and resources needed to deliver top-notch franchise-based releases across multiple platforms," said David Mann, F9E's chief operating officer. "We've already moved everyone under one roof, which will help to make a seamless transition for both teams."

Speaking as head of the newly merged out, former Shiny studio boss Michael "Saxs" Persson said, "At this scale we now have the resources to truly distinguish ourselves as the go to developer for complete sku lines from next-gen to current gen and PSP."
