The Rogue Squadron creators announce a change of heart...
In 2004 Factor 5, the developers of the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series on GameCube, announced their support for the then unnamed next-gen Xbox. However, in a 180° u-turn, the company has now apparently signed an exclusivity deal with Sony to produce titles for PlayStation3.
In several online reports, President of Factor 5, Julian Eggebrecht has been quoted at E3 saying that the performance of Sonyâs next-generation platform and the possibility of producing a more real world experience was enough for the company to change allegiances.
Cynics may argue that the true cause of the u-turn was down to money (and many debates are sure to discuss that matter), but if the reason really was down to the comparative performances of the two consoles, then it's quite a blow for Microsoft, especially since Factor 5 become one of the first companies to sign on the dotted line of Xbox 360 exclusivity.
Weâll have more on the story shortly...
