First Dragon Quest VIII Screen News

Chris Leyton

No it's not a low-quality scan from a Japanese magazine but instead the first officially released screen from Enix.

The recently announced Dragon Quest VIII may not have set the minds of Western gamers alight in the same way as a new Final Fantasy title, however the game is currently getting Japanese gamers into a rather hot and sticky mess, and weâve received the first official screen taken from the game.

Dragon Quest VIII is the latest title in the highly successful RPG series that has sold more copies then the FF franchise; the latest title is currently in development at Level 5 and as you can see features the flavour-of-the-month amongst Japanese RPG developers â“ cell-shaded visuals. Despite Level 5 involvement, the actual design in terms of game and characters is coming from Enix members whoâve worked on previous Dragon Quest titles, so itâs looking like the game is in good hands.

Hopefully weâll have a lot more on Dragon Quest VIII soon.
