Fils-Aime: Wii Storage Capacity Is A "Mainstream Concern" News

Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime concedes that the Wii's lack of internal memory is a problem...
With the increasing popularity of the Wii's online services such as WiiWare and Virtual Console, as well as more games that require players to use an SD card to access additional content, Nintendo of America's President, Reggie Fils-Aime, has conceded that there's a "sense of urgency" to solve the console's memory deficiencies.
Speaking to MTV's Multiplayer blog, Fils-Aime admitted that the lack of internal memory in Nintendo's Wii is a problem for which Nintendo is "working to find a solution":
"We have a consumer base who loves virtual console. We have a userbase who really is enjoying WiiWare content," stated Fils-Aime. "So for us really our challenge really is how do we satisfy all these consumers who are loving all of the product we make available on a download basis? As we continue to have things . . . like 'Mario Kart' that has its own channel when you're playing from an Internet perspective, we're just making this challenge tougher and tougher. So in our view this is becoming much more of a mainstream problem, which is why we have a sense of urgency to solve it."
Upcoming games, such as Guitar Hero World Tour (which will offer DLC for the first time on the Wii), will require Wii owners to reach for an SD card in order to store the additional data. With that in mind, we hope it won't take too long for Nintendo to find that solution.
