New screens showing off the new view as well as a new gameplay mode.
These new screenshots show off the new external camera that has been added to the PlayStation2 version of F355 Challenge. The new camera angle is small fry compared to the addition of the Great Driver Challenge mode.
This new gameplay mode gives you points based on not only your speed, but on the style of your driving. Kudos to Sega for including this mode, which seems to take inspiration from Bizarre Creations’ excellent MSR and Project Gotham games. F355 is already a very deep game and the addition of the Great Driver Challenge should hopefully teach you more about the racing techniques needed to not only win, but to win in style.
Quite whether this intensely simulation based game with its focus on learning cars, tracks and techniques rather than gaining cars or cups, will go down well on the PlayStation2 remains to be seen. We are quite excited about the prospect of i.link multi-player - if it is included that is - and the obvious obsessive comparisons with the Dreamcast port.
Whether there is enough to the game to make it better than GT3, Project Gotham or even the new challengers of Colin McRae 3 or Toca Race driver, we don't know, but we are looking forward to finding out.
