Fallout 3: Simultaneous Console/PC Releases News

Bethesda states that Fallout 3 "should" be released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on the same date...

Todd Howard (Fallout 3's Executive Producer) has stated that Bethesda's plan is to release Fallout 3 on all three scheduled formats at the same time. PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of this highly anticipated sequel/remake are currently slated for release this autumn.

The game's Executive Producer, Todd Howard, told videogaming247 "They should all be the same date, that's our plan," when asked whether there would be a simultaneous launch.

Howard also revealed further details on Fallout 3's multiple endings, a feature that is rarely implemented in videogames, but was in the original Fallout series.

When asked why there were as many as twelve endings, Howard commented: "That number is artificially inflated, in that what you get at the very end is based on a number of things you've done. Some of those tweaks to the ending are pretty small, so I think it's better to simply say the game has multiple endings based on what you did. Some of the really big decisions that affect the end you make right at the end, but some of them deal more with your karma, and how you've lived your life."

Reports did the rounds last week of Fallout 3's game world being 50-80% the size of Oblivion's, after Bethesda's Pete Hines spoke about this aspect of the game to Australian site Gameplayer.

This certainly seems like a logical step for Bethesda to take with Fallout 3's post-apocalyptic version of Washington D.C., rather than the sprawling fantasy realm of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
