SCEE send word on the enhancements and new games set to feature in the forthcoming EyeToy sequel…
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today sent details on the November release of EyeToy: Play 2, which is set to expand upon the revolutionary gameplay of the original EyeToy: Play, with new advancements in technology that make the 12 new games even more interactive then before.
Once again EyeToy: Play 2 places players right into the centre of the action, utilising the USB camera to project them onto the TV screen and into the game. The 12 new games provide a wide variety of challenges for players to participate in, ranging from performing super high-kicks in Kung2, trying their hand at home improvements in DIY, or making burger and fries in Mr Chef.
A new multiplayer tournament feature allows up to four players to face off against one another, taking quick-fire turns in the competition.
The actual game has undergone a variety of technology enhancements, with the all-new Motion-Cam detection allowing players to fine tune their techniques in games such as Home Run and Table Tennis, which take into account where you aim and how hard you hit the ball.
In Boxing, the harder you punch the better your score within the game will be; whilst many of the games also feature Sonic-Cam audio recognition technology, enabling players to influence the action by shouting at the screen.
EyeToy: Play 2 features a new introduction known as MiniVision, which takes the image of the player and the surroundings and projects the reduced image deeper in the game. This new feature allows players not only to be able to control the game with their body, but also to actually move around within a 3D game environment and makes games such as Goal Attack and Home Run possible.
New additions to the PlayRoom area include Cutout-Cam, which allows players to be separated from their surroundings and superimpose themselves within a new environment; or the Colour-Cam, enabling players to control the action using brightly coloured objects.
Finally EyeToy: Play 2 features SpyToy, enabling players to turn their EyeToy camera into a fun security system, which records anyone that passes by; allowing budding Colomboâs to secretly capture photos, record intruders or perhaps the most amusing, record their own message that will pop up on the screen should anyone cross the threshold.
EyeToy: Play 2 is scheduled for release on Playstation2 this winter; weâll have a closer look soon.
