Monkey filled antics fill this new EyeToy title from the same SCEJ team that created Ape Escape…
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today announced that EyeToy: Monkey Mania will be released on the PlayStation2 around the Easter 2005 period. Developed in the style of a board game, Monkey Mania allows up to four players to play absolutely loads of mini-games in an attempt to befriend as many monkeys across three stages, Bubble Island, Slippery Volcano, and Rocket City, before reaching the final goal, which hasnât been announced yetâ¦
In order to move around the board, players have to spin a roulette wheel, with the spaces that they land on opening everything from the mini-games to item shops. The item shops sell one of the key ingredients to winning the game â“ traps.

SCEE have released some details of certain mini-games, including:
Simian Stylist
In this game the monkeys have woken up with bad bed hair, and itâs up to players to help them out by moving their hands over the monkeysâ heads. A word of warning though â“ some of the monkeys are bald, so be sure to press the âPassâ button when you see one
Hide The Banana
The monkeys go back to school in this game of timing. The aim is for players to eat bananas at their desks before the teacher turns around and sees them doing it.
Monkeys At Work
Players become the pathways in this somewhat quirky game of Monkey transfer. Gamers have to move the monkeys from one path to the other, and gain more points for colour co-ordinating the monkeys to the pathways.
Push And Shove
Players compete against each other to push explosive boxes to their opponentâs side. If a box hits the floor then itâll explode, killing some of the monkeys. The game ends when you run out of monkeys.
The title certainly seems to have enough mini-games to keep players entertained, with the idea of producing a âboard gameâ seemingly suiting the nature of EyeToy well, especially since itâs a good way of linking the multitude of games together.
Weâll have more news on Monkey Mania for PlayStation2 shortlyâ¦
