First 'true' EyeToy videogame currently in development from the creators of Amplitude...
From the creators of the excellent Frequency and Amplitude comes word of a new Playstation2 title making use of the EyeToy peripheral.
EyeToy: AntiGrav represents the first ātrueā videogame to incorporate EyeToy support, and allows players to control a hoverboard through the use of colour and body recognition.
Players use their body to guide a character through the world, taking control of steering, speed and trick manoeuvres ā“ hopefully without looking too much of an idiot!
As youād expect from the developers of Frequency and Amplitude, the game places a lot of importance of music, which changes accordingly to the on-screen action and helping to intensify the sense of competition.
However those who find themselves put off by looking like a madman will probably not find themselves taking to this game quickly, as you need to don special armbands to activate the colour tracking capabilities of the EyeToy ā“ something that has never been implemented beforehand.
In addition itās claimed the game will use your every movement, including facial changes, as you shred across eight different levels, grinding on rails, and taking flight to perform awesome tricks. Harmonix promise lots of hidden areas to discover whilst racing, along with shortcuts and plenty of interaction with the environment.
Whilst youāre free to play against AI racers, youāll also have the opportunity to race against the Ghost image of your palās best performance.
Weāll have a closer look soon, providing we can muster the courage to don the armbands.
