European PS3 Sales Surge Over Christmas News

Sony records similar European and US sales figures, shipping 1.2 million European units over Christmas...


Kaz Hirai, the President of Sony Computer Entertainment America, has announced that Sony shipped 1.2 million PlayStation 3 consoles in Europe during the five week period ended December 31st. This follows the introduction of a cut-price 40GB model onto the market.

In a Bloomberg interview, Hirai pointed out that this is in-line with US figures for the same period, where the console sold 1.2 million units.

However, even with these sales and shipment increases, analysts remain unconvinced that Sony will fail to reach its target of 11 million PS3 sales before the end of the financial year (March 31st).

Mitsuhiro Osawa, a Japanese analyst who rates Sony shares, said "It's an industry consensus that PS3 sales will fall short of the target,'' which Hirai announced last December.

"Sony must think it's okay as long as the game business doesn't drag much on its overall earnings," he continued.

Why do people say its ffVII sequel!!! If you read the initial story it says it has nothing to do with ffV11 and its not an RPG!! Chances are there is no big announcement and it was a big joke!!

i think it will be exclusive and iv heard about a new metal gear called Metal Gear 3: Revolver Ocelot and this was in the rumour section of the official uk ps3 magazine it also said if its true expect it also to be announce in the next month ... [ Read full comment... ]
