Europe Beats North America In DS Sales Race News

Nintendo confirms that North American DS sales top 10 million, four months slower than Europe...

Earlier in the week, Nintendo confirmed that sales of Nintendo DS hardware in Europe had topped 10 million units, just twenty-two months after the portable system reached this side of the Atlantic. Today, Nintendo of America announced that the same figure had finally been reached in 'the Americas', having taken twenty-six months to do so.

Breaking the figure down, Nintendo has revealed that nine DS or DS Lite units have been sold across North America every sixty seconds since it was launched there in November 2004.

Making the announcement, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime commented: "More than 5 million people joined the ranks as Nintendo DS owners in America last year alone...And right now, they're all saying the same thing -- 'give me more!' Fortunately, no matter your taste or experience in gaming, that's exactly what we're supplying in the months to come."

I once owned a DS lite and spent many hours playing it. I think it is ideal for the younger gaming generation although for me personally the psp is far better. I think in comparrison to the psp the nintendo ds is slightly overpriced.

i have a ds lite, which seems more of a toy than the psp the games are for the older gamer. oh yes I Hate mario he sucks

I play pirated DS ROMs and I don't live in the US - and I know of at least one other person who does.

spectrobes = awful

most games you can play like a bare bones version with just one copy and 2/3 DS's, some you need a copy of the game each. like mariokart has a few courses and only one character for each person if you're sharing a catridge, but ... [ Read full comment... ]
