Microsoft confirms a doubling of sales in the weeks after the latest Xbox 360 price drop...
Microsoft has today confirmed that the European sales rate of the Xbox 360 have more than doubled, one month on from the latest round of price drops for the console.
The price drop (or 'adjustment' as Microsoft prefers to call it), comes as the platform holder finds itself under increased pressure from both Wii and PlayStation 3.
Despite having to look over its shoulder, Microsoft is determined to put a positive spin on the situation, with news that the hardware/software attachment rate for the Xbox 360 is significantly higher than its two competitors. More than two years after its release, the console's owners have on average seven games, whereas PS3 and Wii owners have less in their libraries (3.8 and 3.5 games respectively).
"Xbox 360 is truly the next-generation console of choice among consumers, and today's numbers are proof that we are delivering on our commitment to achieve critical mass in Europe," said Chris Lewis, Vice President, Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business Europe. "The highly competitive ERP, coupled with entertainment content that's appealing to everyone in the home, makes Xbox 360 the ultimate high-definition entertainment choice, and it's clear that we're already seeing this resonate with consumers."
