Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Moves On Up News

The European release of this eagerly awaited RPG has been moved forward.
Ubisoft announced today that it will be moving up the European release dates for the highly anticipated role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, by Bethesda Softworks. The PC CD-ROM version will be available in May, whilst the European release date for the Xbox version is still to be finalised.
In order to meet the demands of its European consumers, Ubisoft will undertake a two-stage release. In certain countries a semi-localised version of Morrowind will be released in May, with a fully localised version to follow in August. This will allow all European consumers to purchase the game in May, whilst fans in Germany and France will have the additional option of waiting until August for a release of a fully localised version.
Commenting on the decision for the release of Morrowind, Thomas Petersen, Group Brand Manager for Ubi Soft Entertainment stated: âBy introducing a two-stage release, we hope to meet the unprecedented demand from fans that want to play Morrowind as soon as possible, but also deliver a perfectly localised version for those that can wait till August. For a gaming universe featuring over a million words, full translation poses quite a task!â
Summary
- In the UK and Scandinavia, an English language version will be released in May.
- In Italy, Holland, and Spain, a semi-localised version will be available in May.
- In France and Germany, a semi-localised version (translated manual with English in-game text and speech) will be available in May, and will be followed by a fully localised version in August.
Weâll be taking a closer look at Morrowind next week in our extended preview.
