Eidos announce Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes the Neighbourhood for the Playstation2 and Xbox…

Eidos today announced a return to the world of extreme wrestling with the confirmation of Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes the Neighbourhood.

Currently in development at Paradox for the Playstation2 and Xbox, the game is scheduled for release in the Autumn.

Boasting a list of extensive features including online support, a completely revamped wrestling and animation system and massively improved visuals; the implementation of the all-new âEnviro-Mentalâ engine claims to deliver an unprecedented level of interaction with the environment, objects and non-player characters.

In addition the sequel will feature standing and ground submissions, multi-position grappling, a block button and an improved body-part specific damage system.

The single-player offerings will be enhanced from its predecessor, allowing players to compete in Death Matches and a âQuest for the Beltâ mode. However itâs the promise of online multiplayer in which the game is squarely focussed, featuring an online ladder bracketing system and headset support.

Finally the roster of selectable characters will be increased, whilst gamers can create their own character via the extensive âCreate-A-Wrestlerâ mode.

Kevin Gill, brand manager at Eidos says:

âHarnessing the power of the âEnviro-Mentalâ gameplay engine, Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes The Neighborhood will continue blazing the trail of unprecedented environmental interaction and over the top violence. The inclusion of online play will finally allow gamers to deliver pain to opponents from around the world. With its completely re-designed and expanded âcreate-a-wrestlerâ system, an impressive new grappling system, more diverse move-set, solid hardcore soundtrack, and online play, BYW2 offers the complete wrestling package.â

Weâll have more information soon.
