UK publisher confirms Championship Manager 5 delay alongside announcing a sequel to Shellshock: Nam’67...
Eidos today delivered an update to its current financial trading and outlook, whilst in the process confirming a sequel to Shellshock: Namâ67 is in development and that Championship Manager 5 wouldnât be released until the second half of the 2005 financial year.
Stating that the Guerrilla Games Vietnam inspired multi-format title, Shellshock: Namâ67, has exceeded expectations and shifted over 800,000 units, along with the launch of Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes The Neighborhood and Crash ânâ Burn, both of which are in-line with management expectations; the delayed release of Championship Manager 5 should form part of a strong line-up for Eidos during that period, with other notable releases including Project: Snowblind and Imperial Glory, followed in Q4 by Just Cause, 25 To Life, Commandos: Strike Force along with the next instalments in the Hitman and Tomb Raider franchises.
The update also reveals that the planned sale of the UK publisher is ongoing, and that following a short-list of the most likely potential partners, detailed discussions have been carried out with a small number of interested parties. Despite dropping short of confirming a specific offer, the acquisition of Eidos looks almost but a certainty, although the UK publisher did state that no assurance of a concrete offer can yet be made.
