A new LEGO title set to arrive later in 2006 from the makers of LEGO Star Wars...

Eidos Interactive and TT Games have today announced the development of Bionicle Heroes, based on the LEGO franchise. The game, which will be released on PlayStation2, PC, GameBoy Advance, Nintendo DS (and GameCube in North America) during Autumn 2006, sees players follow the story of a young hero as he tries to master the special Bionicle abilities of heroes from the past.

"2006 is a huge year for BIONICLE. We are providing strong levels of support for the brand in 2006 and we are excited that the same winning team behind the success of LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game is making the official BIONICLE videogame". Said Jay Bruns, Director of Global Partnerships and Alliances for LEGO Group. He added "With such a pedigree of highly entertaining and engaging titles for young gamers, we are really looking forward to seeing the BIONICLE range bought to life in an immensely fun and immersive experience, both for our core BIONICLE fans and for those new to the universe."

Traveller's Tales has worked with Eidos in the past with the first LEGO Star Wars title, which continues to turn over sales in the UK more than a year after its initial release - Eidos will be hoping that Bionicle Heroes will do a similar thing.

We'll have more news shortly...
