Pandemic Studios confirms the identity of the World in Flames publisher, and it certainly isn't LucasArts...
Pandemic Studios has today confirmed that Electronic Arts will be publishing the PlayStation3 title, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.
The game, a follow-up the 2005 Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, sees players venture to a wartorn Venezuela, where "If you see it, you can buy it, steal it, or blow the living crap out of it." Mercenaries 2 will feature online Co-Operative functionality, together with dozens of vehicles and weapons for gamers to use as gamers try to fulfil the terms of their clients' contracts.
"We're thrilled to partner with Pandemic Studios and to be working together to make Mercenaries 2: World in Flames a global blockbuster," said EA Partners Vice President and General Manager, David DeMartini. "EA Partners is committed to providing the world's best development studios with access to EA's unrivaled global publishing resources, helping gamemakers reach the widest possible audience."
"Pandemic Studios is excited to join forces with EA Partners to give Mercenaries 2: World in Flames a spectacular global launch," said Pandemic Studios CEO Andrew Goldman. "Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will set the bar for explosive, open world action games in the next generation, and everyone at Pandemic is excited that fans will be able to get their hands on it later this year."
Release details for the anticipated title haven't been disclosed by either Bioware/Pandemic or Electronic Arts, besides a rather broad "2007" - so prepare for destruction sometime in the next eleven months then.
