Black and Lord of the Rings will be arriving on next-gen systems during the upcoming year...
Electronic Arts has today confirmed next-gen versions of several of its franchises during a Conference Call to discuss the financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2007.
Criterion Games' Black will be making an appearance on next-generation consoles, though remarks by EA's Chief Financial Officer Warren Jenson make it unclear whether this will be Black 2 or just an upgraded version of the original. Jensen also spoke about 'another' Lord of the Rings title, but again it's unknown whether he was referring to a follow-up to former Project Grey, the previously announced Lord of the Rings: The White Council.
EA also announcing The Sims 2: Holiday Edition will be coming to US PlayStation3s during the upcoming festive season. Not forgetting Nintendo's new console, the publisher also confirmed that a special edition of the life sim franchise would be heading to Wii. A new SimCity is also in the works.
The best-selling series is set to continue into the foreseeable future, as EA confirmed that The Sims 3 is expected to hit stores during the 2009 fiscal year (which ends on March 31st 2009). In addition to that, next-gen title Army of Two and PC shooter Crysis have slipped back into the 2008 fiscal year, which begins on April 1st 2007.
We'll have more news on all of these titles in the coming months...
