EA Prepares Wing Commander Arena For Launch News

The second Xbox Live Arcade title from Electronic Arts is close to lift-off this Wednesday...
Electronic Arts has today confirmed that Wing Commander Arena will launch on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday for 800 Microsoft Points.
The second Arcade title from EA (their debut was the Bizarre Creations developed Boom Boom Rocket) Wing Commander Arena is a space-set action shooter, where gamers can participate in 16-player dogfights through 9 different environments.
Since its announcement, the game has come under some flak for baring little to zero resemblance to the original Wing Commander series (other that they are both set in space), though EA remains confident over the future of the title:
"We've updated the Wing Commander series and brought it to a new platform, making it an action-packed, pure arcade style game," said Sean Penney, EA Wing Commander Arena producer. "We're redefining the Arcade multi-player experience - the adrenaline rush you get in a 16-player fight is an unmatched experience and gives those who remember the Wing Commander franchise a new way to experience it."
