Continuing its aggressive publishing campaign, EA snap up the European rights to the forthcoming NAMCO fps…
EA today announced that it has snapped up the European publishing rights to âBreakdownâ â“ the forthcoming first-person-shooter from NAMCO.
The game has recently gone on release in Japan and received critical acclaim from the Japanese press, who are usually notoriously against the genre. The game takes the traditional aspects of a first-person-shooter, but merges such aspects that are not particularly associated with it such as hand-to-hand combat, puzzles and surreal dream sequences.
Playing the role of Derrick Cole, a US soldier badly wounded in combat and brought back from the brink of death as a result of 'cyborg' experiments, you wake up in the Carter Research Centreâ”a US research facility located in Yokohama, Japanâ”unable to remember your past. Here you come under attack from US soldiers and are saved unexpectedly by Alex Henderson, a female soldier.
You have no choice but to escape from the research centre and unravel the sinister plot, battling hoards of seemingly invincible super-human warriors, learning new combos and acquiring new vehicles and weapons for the ultimate first-person experience.
Scheduled for release in June 2004; weâll have a closer look soon.
