The latest Sims 2 expansion puts a call out to all the budding entrepreneurs...

If there's anything bigger and with a longer lifespan then The Sims in this industry then we don't know about it; however that's never a reason for the 58 million selling franchise to slow down, as today EA confirmed the development of yet another expansion pack to its hugely popular PC title The Sims 2.

The Sims 2 Open for Business puts commercial creativity in the player's hands, providing the scope to setup a business, from trendy clothing boutiques to blooming floral shops, a bustling restaurant or perhaps an original business of your own design, it's entirely up to you.

Sims learn what it takes to establish a clientele and keep customers happy, whilst improving staff morale and the various intricacies of the laws of supply and demand are crucially important. Players can help the Sims to create and craft new items to sell, with different sales techniques required to woo each unique customer. Players can dress their staff in wacky uniforms or perhaps cut the price on products to entice wavering punters.

Typically the thought of another Sims expansion pack is hardly likely to make our bleary eyes stand on end, however the thought of adding a player led economy and the tools to create content bodes well for the future of the series particularly when it comes to online.

"The Sims 2 Open for Business is truly an innovative and fresh addition to the franchise. It allows players to build their own business from the ground up, exploring a whole new economic landscape while pursuing their dreams of commercial success," said senior producer, Tim LeTourneau. "For years players have been asking for the ability to play with their Sims in a work environment. Now they will be able to do just that, unlocking not only their Sims business potential, but their own as well. It's really a whole new way to play the game." "Whether you're a clever tinkerer or a master craftsman, your dream store can become a virtual reality as your Sims world becomes open for business!"
