EA Sports returns to the ring but it's EA Canada in charge this time around...
EA might have closed the Chicago studio but it seems that didn't signal the end of Fight Night, with confirmation that Round 4 is currently in development for the Xbox360 and PlayStation3.
Taking control this time around is EA Canada who promises the most realistic "in the ring" experience to date. Employing a re-written game engine, Fight Night Round 4 introduces a variety of different fighting styles and boxer differentiation to emulate the greatest boxers of all time, whether it's pressuring your opponent with the brawling inside style of Mike Tyson or capitalising on Muhammad Ali's reach, hand speed and fleetness of foot. For the first time in Fight Night history you'll be able to pit these against one another in the ring.
An all-new physics based animation system also means that no fight will ever feel the same. Recreating the full spectrum of true-to-life punch impacts, the new technique allows for missed punches, glancing punches, knockout blows, and rough-and-tumble inside fighting. Fatigue, adrenaline, footwork, and timing also play a part, as you hammer your opponent and attempt to become a true champ.
"The EA SPORTS Fight Night franchise has always been synonymous with quality and innovation that raised the bar for the sports videogame genre", said Kevin Wilkinson, Executive Producer, EA SPORTS. "EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 3 was a platform defining game as the industry transitioned to next generation consoles. EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 will change how boxing games are played and measured in the future."
