Electronic Arts has today announced the development of Arena Football for Xbox and PlayStation2, which will bring the atmosphere of indoor American Football to gamers. Developed by EAâs Tiburon studio in Florida, creators of Madden NFL and NASCAR 06, Arena Football will adhere to AFL rules and use 8-on-8 gameplay with playbooks from actual AFL coaches.
"The goal of EA SPORTS Arena Football is to make gamers think differently about how they play a football videogame," said Jon Dean, Executive Producer, EA Tiburon. "Arena Football is a fast-paced action oriented sport that relies on big plays and relentless offense [sic] -- we will give gamers a host of features that will deliver this experience."
The atmosphere created in the game has been described as like being at a rock-concert with fireworks and fans creating a high intensity arena for the game. Arena Football will also feature a telemetry system that will provide players with a complete breakdown of stats including passing tendencies, scoring history and player health.
The US release of the game will be on February 7th 2006 though thereâs been no European release date confirmed. Weâll have more news shortlyâ¦
