Find out how this interesting looking game FROM Reflections is shaping up.

Stuntman is one game that we were really looking forward to playing, the pedigree of Reflections and the premise of the game appealing to us greatly. The demo on the show floor offered a few scenarios and we got to take a spin.

It looks as though this one has been done well, controlling just like a driving game but with a series of on screen icons and audio directions from the stunt director telling you where to go. Each of the stunts is packed with detail and is far harder to complete properly than you may initially think. There are many components to each stunt and you need to get them all pretty much perfect before you complete it. It is good that the stunts are well thought out and the handling is such that it is fun to control the cars.

Graphically things are good, cars are nicely detailed and sport nice reflections and are accurately affected by shadows cast from other objects. In addition to the cars there are many people and objects dotted around the levels ā“ well only if the stunt requires them naturally ā“ and they have a good level of detail and objects that can be broken or moved are done so with great realism. Damage on the cars too is very good, a real sense of weight and solidity is achieved but you can totally wreck your car in spectacular fashion if you choose to do so. Whatever the location, from cities to mountains, it looks decidedly realistic with good use of lighting and good level design on the part of Reflections.

The handling of the cars appears to be very realistic, however we didnāt get to see how different types of vehicle handle, as the only vehicles on choice were standard cars. In previous screenshots we have seen various types of cars from family saloons to sports cars and even three wheeled scooter style things in the Hong Kong level. It seems as though each of these will have totally different handling meaning that you have to learn each car afresh and get used to the subtleties of its handling. When you crack the handling of the car and pull of the stunt perfectly you get a real sense of satisfaction. It seems as though Reflections have spent a lot of time fine-tuning and it shows, we canāt wait to take the other types of vehicle for a spin.

Once you have completed your stunt you get to see it played back as it would appear in the movie, and this is very cool. The camera angles are well chosen and it is very satisfying to see your completed stunt on the big screen as it were. Even if you mess up the stunts you can still check it out in cinematic style with the replay mode that, like driver, allows you to play at being director.

We enjoyed what we played of Stuntman and would have happily stayed for more, this one seems like it will be a great game to play through when it gets released and we were pleased to see it living up to its potential.
