We take a gander at this winter sports title FROM Nintendo.
1080 2 was on the show floor in video form and it looked rather impressive despite the recent confusion around the actual status of the project. It seems as though like the original game this uses a modified version of the WaveRace engine to reproduce really cold water.
It looks rather nice in motion the graphics are pretty good, nice detail and animation as well as good course design. Course design being the important word at this stage, so far it seems that the levels are rather similar to the original 1080 rather than opting for the lovely open ended approach as offered by the excellent Amped. The characters appear to be the original cast sporting a makeover, we also assume that there will be some new additions.
As for any indication of what gameplay modes there will be the rolling demo gave us no indicator as to anything that will be in the game. The video simply showed where the game is at and that it definitely exists and from what we did see will please fans and should hopefully have a broader appeal. We would have liked to have been able to give this a play, and one would assume that it is some way from release if there was only video footage, however it does look promising.
