The development farce surrounding the return of Duke looks set to continue into next year and beyond...
The development woes of āDuke Nukem foreverā have been well publicised since the game was originally announced back in 1997; subsequent reshufflings and the untimely death of Doug Myers, one of the co-founders of GOD Games has done little to help this.
However the end still seems to be nowhere in sight, as when pressed for a comment on the situation during the recent Take-Two financial announcement, Jeff Lapin CEO Take Two Interactive, confirmed that the game might even slip into 2005; claiming that:
"I had a recent conversation with the developer, and they expect the game to be completed sometime at the end of '04 or the beginning of '05."
Take-Two acquired the license for āDuke Nukem Foreverā for an estimated $12 million, however the games developers have funded development entirely by themselves and have still retained the Duke Nukem license. Comments made between the two parties seem to suggest that it isnāt the smoothest relationship, with 3D Realms Chief George Broussard once infamously claiming āTake-Two needs to STFU IMOā.
Weāll have more on the situation soon, or perhaps notā¦
