Specific information on the music title coming from NAMCO and Nintendo...
The first specific information on the next Donkey Kong title to come from NAMCO and Nintendo was today released in Japan.
As had been originally confirmed, âDonkey Kongaâ will make use of a Congo-drum peripheral that uses a similar system to NAMCOâs âTaiko No Tatsujinâ series.
Reports from Japan today suggest that this peripeheral will be a mighty 30cmx20cm, whilst advanced sensors within the device will be able to distinguish between different types of hand claps. Itâs claimed that other people will be able to use the peripheral at the same time, paving the way for some seriously fun multiplayer frolics.
In addition itâs claimed that the final game will contain approximately 32 songs from a wide range of different tastes including the DK Rap, whilst the game should see the return of Donkey Kong favourites and new characters joining the cast.
Unfortunately neither company has yet to talk about the price of the game, a crucial factor in defining itâs success and possibly an area that they should look to the success of SCEE âEyeToyâ for inspiration.
âDonkey Kongaâ is scheduled for release in Japan during Spring 2004; hopefulyl weâll have the first screens and more information shortly.
