Disney Goes Internal For Toy Story 3 News

Disney decides to bring the development of the videogame adaptation to the third adventure of Woody and Buzz in-house...
Despite enjoying a close relationship, it's been revealed today that the videogame adaptation of Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 3 will not be developed by THQ. Instead, the game will be produced internally by Disney Interactive Studios.
With a resurgence in Hollywood movie studios getting involved with videogames once more, including the likes of Disney and Warner Brothers, today's news isn't perhaps that much of a surprise. It doesn't seem to mark the beginning of a messy break up between THQ and Disney however.
Sources from within THQ have today confirmed to TVG however that despite Disney's decision to shift the development of the Toy Story 3 videogame in-house, it will not affect the publisher's rights to develop WALL-E and Ratatouille titles, nor the rights to adapting Pixar's titles in 2010 and 2011.
The original newspaper report, which first appeared within the pages of the New York publication, suggests that Pixar boss John Lassiter made the decision to green light the internal development.
Speaking to the WSJ, THQ CEO Brian Farrell said, "We would have loved to keep the business, but when you see a company like Disney scaling up we weren't surprised they went internal with it."
