Blizzard confirms the departure of Brian Morrisroe but deny that this will lead to a visual change...

Attracting over 50,000 signatures it's fair to say opinions are divided when it comes to the new art style depicted with the unveiling of Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo 3.

So when news comes, via MTV, that Diablo 3's art director has resigned, it appears that perhaps the vociferous fans have won... or maybe not.

Announcing the resignation of Brian Morrisroe, Blizzard confirmed that the departure will not signal a change in the game's visual style. Instead it's believed that Morrisroe has left to form a new venture outside of videogames, which has led to Blizzard posting a vacancy for his recently vacated role.

Speaking to MTV, a Blizzard rep stated, "... We're really pleased with the look and feel that Brian helped create for Diablo III, and the new person we bring onboard will work with the other artists on the team to maintain the art style moving forward."

Keep the signatures flowing if you really, really don't like the look and style, perhaps even more heads will roll.

Well damm about time,i been playin diablo 2 for 4 seaons now online and yey finnaly a d3... i was over the bots on d2 on ladder anyways... the might Legion of Angels may rise again in d3... =D

If Diablo 3 is even similar to Diablo 1 and 2, it's going to be freaking awesome. WoW was/is nothing more than a Diablo clone in the first place. . .
