Win An Xbox Console + Deus Ex Invisible War News
More on this gameThe original Deus Ex came along at a time when the FPS was increasingly becoming tired and stale, it’s unique game design and open ended gameplay inspired the industry and rightfully encapsulated it as one of the finest games ever created.

Deus Ex 2: The Invisible War is being jointly developed on the PC and Xbox and looks to compete on a visual level at least with the likes of Doom 3. Developers Ion Storm are using a customised version of the Unreal engine, which allows for quite frankly unbelievable texture resolutions of 2048x2048 along with some truly superb lighting routines; just take a look at these new screens to see what we mean.

The game itself is set 20 years after the events of the first game; the winner-take-all geopolitics of mid-21st century Earth have given way to a struggle over more basic concerns: food, water, re-establishing civil law and cleaning up biological and nano-tech fallout. Several religious and political factions see in the chaos the opportunity to shape a worldwide government and they know that the right moves now could determine the shape of human society for decades - even centuries - to come. The player must reveal the secrets of each faction and the identities of the true players in this struggle for world power. In the end, the player discovers that he or she may be the key to all of the factions' plans.

The sequel features a variety of new features, including some new nano-technology that will allow you to see through walls, jump 40ft and disappear from radars amongst other things.

However it’s the actual gameplay that’s exciting us the most, whilst many games have promised open-ended, free-flowing experiences most have turned out to be dull and boring affairs; Deus Ex nailed it, sucking in the player and truly making them believe that it’s them inside the game. Ion Storm is promising more of the same only better for the sequel, which has left us like a bunch of happy tail wagging puppies waiting for a bone.

We’ll have more on Deus Ex 2, including a First Look very soon.
