Activision release details of Vicarious Visions` SK8-boarding title...

Activision has today revealed further details of Tony Hawkâs American SK8Land on Nintendo DS. The game, which has been developed at Vicarious Visions, looks set to provide players with a range of features including the ability to record voices for playback when certain tricks are performed, 2-player Wi-Fi, and a âFreak Out!â mini-game.

American SK8Land lets players control the iconic Hawk and a range of other professional skateboarders throughout seven areas of Los Angeles with the goal of returning the skatepark âAmerican SK8Landâ to former glory. Though the game does allow for two player Wi-Fi with gametypes including Trick Attack, Score Challenge, Combo Mambo, The Price is Wrong, and Horse, SK8Land also gives players the ability to create wireless communities where âGhostsâ and highscores can be posted and downloaded.

Special moves are accomplished through the âTrick Slotsâ that appear when a particular meter fills, with players able to customise their moves in the skate shop; further customisable options are available to the player including graffiti art, deck art, and âCreate-a-Parkâ.

SK9Land will also feature a âFreak Out!â mini-game where players have to stop three columns as close to the top of the column as possible; success will mean a retention of combos and a speed boost.

After a series of games that only display maps on the DSâ touch screen, itâs a surprise that itâs a Tony Hawk title that tries to take advantage of some of the handhelds features. Weâll have more news shortlyâ¦
