Deluge Of News From DS Conference 2006 News

A late spring 2006 release for New Super Mario Bros in Japan just one of many announcements...
In an absolute deluge of announcements made at the DS Conference 2006, a Japanese release period of May 2006 has been given for the highly anticipated New Super Mario Bros. The first 2D Mario game since Super Mario World over ten years ago, the DS title looks set to launch a wave of nostalgia when it finally arrives; a release date for the game outside of Japan was not given.
Away from the pint-sized plumbers from Brooklyn, the Conference was also the place where Winning Eleven for the DS was announced. Making use of both screens in order to change tactics, the Winning Eleven DS has also been confirmed as being Wi-Fi Compatible.
Adding to news earlier today that a web browser was being prepared for the Nintendo DS came the announcement that a TV Tuner for the handheld is also being developed for the system. Plugging into the GBA slot in the DS, a prototype design for the tuner was shown at the Conference, though this was not a working model.
It also emerged that Hiroshi Sakaguchi's Mistwalker is currently working on a new title for the system called Archaic Sealed Heat (ASH); not much is known of the RPG though it promises to make an original use of the DS' two screens.
We'll have more news shortly...
