Deep Silver Signs S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Follow Up News

PC gamers set to return to The Zone and GSC Gameworld's follow up courtesy of Deep Silver...

Recently announced for digital download release over Steam, GSC Gameworld's follow up to 2007's bug-ridden-like-an-anthill title S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl has today been picked up for retail release by Deep Silver.

A prequel to last year's game, which arrived after several years in development hell, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Clear Sky takes place twelve months before the events of the Shadow of Chernobyl and once again sees players deep within the radioactive wastelands of The Zone.

Confirming the deal, Craig McNicol, Managing Director of Koch Media, Deep Silver's parent company commented: "The unique atmosphere of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. caused a sensation among gamers, while the sales have demonstrated the brand's enormous potential. We are delighted with this chance to publish the prequel together with GSC under the Deep Silver label."

"Publishing the game Heroes of Annihilated Empires worldwide together with Koch Media distribution, we were happy of the cooperation and are glad to continue it with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky project" said Sergiy Grygorovych, CEO of GSC World Publishing.

Having pushed us to the edge of losing our sanity a year ago, we can only hope that Clear Sky delivers what its predecessor promised...our fingers are very much crossed.

Seriously, STALKER is a great game (one of the best I´ve played during my lifetime and I have been playing since Monkey Island One) The only problem was the huge machine needed to run it.

Just can´t wait to get my hands on this prequel... [ Read full comment... ]

when (or if) this is released for the xbox360 they should have ironed out the glitches. having tried for two years to get this licence, they wouldnt do a half-arsed job on their first console project. i hope it is converted, its a good game!
