Unique twist on the traditional multiplayer offering promised in Arkane's latest RPG...
Ubisoft today revealed details on the innovative multiplayer mode set to feature in the forthcoming PC RPG, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic. The aptly named "Crusader" mode allows up to 32 players to battle it out, fighting for the Humans or Undead faction and choosing between five different character classes such as the Assassin, Warrior, Priest, Mage and Archer (intriguingly the Knight has changed to a Warrior and the Priestess to a Priest in the last few months). Each class has their own skill tree allowing up to 15 different abilities to be earned during play.
The mode is essentially based on five different maps linked together in a "tug-of-war" fashion. Each team gains control of two opposing territories with a neutral map in between, the idea being to defend or attack fortifications/crypts to gain control of spawn points in each map, whilst taking advantage of interactive objects placed on the map such as siege towers.
Linked to the story depicted in the single-player mode, Crusader will also be joined by traditional Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes. KuJu is currently in charge of the multiplayer components, as the game's primary developers, Arkane Studios, oversee the development.
To get a sample of the action, Ubisoft have sent word of a closed beta-test that is currently running and seeking applicants. To register your informaiton and find out more, simply head over to https://secure.ubi.com/login/Login.aspx.
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic is scheduled for release in September; keep an eye out for an extensive First Look at the title soon...
