Job vacancy suggests that CryTek's PC shooter will may be heading to Sony's next-gen console...

You've got to love videogame industry job vacancies, they really can act like a very bright spotlight on a development studio's plans. Take this latest vacancy posting by FarCry developer CryTek for a PlayStation3 programmer. A quick look at the responsibilities that the successful candidate would have includes "Work[ing] on various aspects of porting to PS3 and creating solutions to get the utmost out of the PS3".

So what does this mean?

Well, CryTek are currently working on, Crysis, which so far has only been announced for PC. Built using the CryENGINE 2.0 engine (another key area of responsibility of the future PS3 programmer according to the vacancy details), it does seem to be an indication that the shooter may be heading for the next-gen platform - despite a lack of confirmation from either CryTek or Crysis publisher, Electronic Arts.

But that's not all.

Another job opening at the developer calls for a Graphics Programmer with key responsibilities in porting the PC source over to PlayStation3 and 'Xenon' - the Xbox 360 CPU codename. So it looks like Crysis won't be heading exclusively over to Sony's next-gen platform either.

Of course, all this is yet to be confirmed by either party - expect more news on this in the coming months.

Anyone who says the PS3 doesn't have the memory is a dumbass. The RAMBUS RAM in the PS3 is 4 times the speed of DDR2 giving it over a gig of shared memory

piracy is not as bad as they want you to believe.the real reason they didn't sell well is because they marketed the game at a level that went far beyond the level that anyone could really play it at.people want to have what they are promised.you can'... [ Read full comment... ]

Not all format exclusives bombed. Mass Effect did 444,000 in one week. I'm fairly confident that Crysis will do alot better on the 360.

crysis wont come out on ps3 as there isnt enough system memory for the game to run theres more chance it will come out on 360 as the 360 uses unified memory and also has 10mb embedded video memory
