Inspired by Hong Kong action films, the game lets players assume the role of tough-as-nails detective Nick Kang, bent on settling a personal vendetta with the L.A. underworld. As Kang, players will be able to disperse their own personal brand of justice through automotive combat, a variety of rib-cracking martial arts moves and the business end of dual .45s. True Crime is a mission based driving action adventure game due to hit the streets mid-2003.

L.A based developer issues lawsuit against alleged similarities in True Crime: Streets of L.A...

Activision are today facing a lawsuit, claiming that the forthcoming âTrue Crime: Streets of L.Aâ illegally copies the work of crime author Robert Crais.

Crais, whose works include âL.A Requiemâ and âThe Last Detectiveâ claims that the videogame lifts ideas from his books and that the main character bears too many similarities to one of his own characters.

The lawsuit claims that "True Crime' is substantially similar to the Elvis Cole novels" and Crais believes Activision "copied protectible(sic) expressions". He is seeking an injunction to prevent Activision from shipping the game, along with an undisclosed monetary damage.

Letâs just hope the issue is amicably sorted as soon as possible so that Activision can stay on track with the scheduled November 4th release date.
