Halo 3 will pick up where Halo 2 left off. The Master Chief is returning to Earth to finish the fight. The Covenant occupation of Earth has uncovered a massive and ancient object beneath the African sands - an object who's secrets have yet to be revealed. Earth's forces are battered and beaten. The Master Chief's AI companion Cortana is still trapped in the clutches of the Gravemind - a horrifying Flood intelligence, and a civil war is raging in the heart of the Covenant.

Crackdown Update Fixes Halo 3 Issue News

Bungie confirms an extra four days of Beta testing to compensate for the 'pain for many and an inconvenience at the very least'...

The clock stuck 1pm BST yesterday, but for thousands of gamers eagerly awaiting their first experience with Halo 3, the ability to take part in Bungie's Multiplayer Beta just didn't happen. Hundreds of pages of rants and tirades of abuse filled official forums on both Bungie.net and Xbox.com, as gamers tried (without success) to download the Beta file via their copy of Crackdown.

A lack of communication from Bungie didn't help matters, with little coming within the four walls of the Seattle outfit, aside from a post by the studio twenty minutes into the planned start of the Beta that they were aware of the issue.

But everybody can now breath a sigh of relief as Bungie confirmed early this morning (around 3am BST) that an update for Crackdown had been released, fixing the issue.

Recognising the anger and frustration of many gamers the studio has confirmed that as a result of the problems, the Beta will be extended from June 7th to June 10th, giving players the chance to play through Valhalla, Snowbound, and High Ground for an extra four days.

Bungie always said that the reason for the Beta was to stress test the system, but we're not so certain that they meant to also stress test would be Beta players either...
