EA’s From Russia With Love set to feature the return of Sean Connery in the role of 007...
In a move that is sure to please James Bond fans, Electronic Arts has today announced that veteran 007 actor Sean Connery will reprise his most famous role (aside from that of Ramirez in Highlander of course) in the forthcoming videogame adaptation of the second Bond film, From Russia With Love.
Following the narrative of the film, which was first released way back in 1963, the game is set to include the â63 likeness of Connery with the actor stepping into a studio to record new lines of dialogue for the title.
Joining the early 60s Connery will be likenesses of all the key characters from the film including the late Desmond Llewellyn as Q, Robert Shawâs Red Grant, and the original Miss Moneypenny as played by Lois Maxwell â“ not to mention the fact that the gadgets of Q Branch including the jetpack and Q-Copter.
Discussing his role, Connery said "As an artist, I see this as another way to explore the creative processâ¦Video games are an extremely popular form of entertainment today, and I am looking forward to seeing how it all fits together."
Having Connery in the game is obviously a huge coup for EA, and John Taylor, videogame analyst at Arcadia Research said that, "The combination of Sean Connery, the Bond universe and 'From Russia With Love' is about the best mix you can have in a Bond game without a new feature filmâ¦Connery set the standard for James Bond and is most people's favourite Bond. This game should have both a retro and contemporary appeal to a large audience."
The game is aiming for an Autumn 2005 release for Xbox, PS2, and GameCube â“ weâll have more news on From Russia With Love shortly...
