Two weeks prior to launch, UK online retailer claims number of PS3 searches is lower then rivals...
After a triumphant week at GDC heralding the arrival of Sony's true next-generation vision, the impending European launch was today downplayed by leading price comparison website, www.pricegrabber.co.uk, and high-street electrical chain Comet.
Comet Head of Games, Ross Edwards commented that, "whilst demand for PS3 has been in line with market expectations pre launch- as the official launch date looms closer interest is really building."
Despite a 100% increase for searches involving the PlayStation3 two weeks prior to the European launch, PriceGrabber maintains that the number of searches is "drastically down" compared to those for the Xbox 360 and Wii at similar times before their respective launches.
In a thoroughly unscientific test, PriceGrabber alleges that searches for Nintendo Wii jumped by 200% two weeks prior to its launch, whilst the Xbox 360 saw a staggering 435% increase in the two weeks leading up to its launch back in 2005.
Likely little more than a stunt to squeeze every last pre-order possible, we suspect Sony Computer Entertainment Europe won't be having too many sleepless nights worrying about the findings.

there is a page for the 360 and for the wii, why cant people go multi format.
