Codemasters claim to have the most accurate and detailed car to be found in a driving game.

Codemasters claim that the Ford Focus rally car in Colin McRae Rally 3, will be the most accurate and detailed vehicle to be found in a driving title.

Rallying is a thoroughly immersive and tense motorsport and this level of car detail is designed to bring players even closer to the whole experience, as Rick Nath, Associate Producer for the title, explains:

"Graphically, the in-game Ford Focus RS WRC will be over 16 times more
detailed than the model in Colin McRae Rally 2.0. The polygon count for the
Focus model is up to a staggering 13,000, as compared to about 800 for the previous game.

"Working at this level means we'll be effectively giving players a real
Focus to rally, making the gameplay intensely richer. We can fully detail the
car's interior, its engine bays, and the chassis detail. We're also working on suspension, and a more realistic damage engine with opening and detachable panels, doors, tailgates, bonnets, bumpers, and windows."

The recreation of the Focus in game is not just limited to the vehicle's body
parts - both McRae and co-driver Nicky Grist are fully animated and react to every movement of the car. They will sway under cornering, pitch forward under breaking and Nicky will even grab hold of the roll cage to steady himself in a collision. McRae operates the car's controls realistically, using the pedals as well as steering and changing gear or using the handbrake.
