And a selection of eight new screens for all the Xbox owners out there...
Codemasters today released new screens from Colin McRae 4 on the Playstation2 and Xbox, whilst also confirming a surprising September release date.
Codemasters have assured us that the 50-strong development team have been working on the game since last summer; despite the relatively short turnaround we can expect to see eight game modes replacing the âColin McRaeâ career mode that was featured in last years outing.
Along with the release date, Codemasters also told us about the new handling system employed in Colin McRae 4. Previous titles have employed a steering aid, which had the effect of making the car move around a central pivot. This aid has been completely removed for the new game, providing a more realistic and natural racing experience.
Director of Development at Codemasters, Gary Dunn commented; "It's all in the detail; the team has enhanced the already-powerful physics engine to make each car handle even more realistically and instinctively. Cars are modelled heavier and have more attributes added to the engine. From Colin McRae Rally 3, we've also increased the number of terrain surface types from 20 to 34, and tyre types from 10 to 19, to ensure the handling on different surfaces and weather conditions is more accurate than ever before."
