'Greater degree of simulation’ set for the third incarnation of the Codies racing sim...
Codemasters has revealed some of the features that are set to make an appearance in this Winterâs TOCA Race Driver 3 on Xbox, PlayStation2, and PC, which are set to push the franchise further than ever before. Boasting that the game will deliver an extremely immersive experience through the use of an evolved handling system and âenhanced Human AIâ, the developers are certainly aiming high with TOCA3 in a range of different ways.
As you can see from one screenshot in particular, the damage modelling in the game looks set to impress with body damage and debris flying off the cars not to mention that Codies are boldly stating that the game has, ââ¦the most comprehensive and customisable championship features in both offline and online racing.â The game has over 100 different motorsport championships with players able to progress through seven different career paths including Oval, Historic, Rally, and Touring Cars together with tuning options, practice sessions, and car upgrades (race type permitting.)
Codemasters has also been quick to promote the gameâs sound reproduction, which delivers forty times the audio assets on every single car compared to its predecessor, giving players the chance to experience realistic vehicle sound. Visually TOCA3 includes effects such as blurring and increased depth of field with the action smoothly running at 60 frames a second â“ even with a full grid of 21 cars. The use of Normal Mapping allows for an increased level of detail for the cars and the environments alike, and the franchise one again features a range licensed cars that are, according to Codies, true icons of motorsport.
