Latest title in the acclaimed racing series revs up to the line for the Playstation2, Xbox and PC...
Codemasters today lifted the wraps on the latest title in its critically acclaimed TOCA Race Driver series. Currently in development for the Playstation2, Xbox and PC for well over a year, TOCA Race Driver 3 promises to carry on the tradition of the series and will deliver individual game modes suited to the speed-freaks and the motorsport enthusiasts alike.
The game will once again feature a running narrative throughout the World Tour mode, taking in a variety of tournaments and championships including GT, Off-Road, Touring Cars, Open Wheel, Rally and Oval.
Codemasters are making boastful claims about the depth of content featured in TOCA Race Driver 3, with the ability to start off in Go-Kart events before progressing to Formula 1000, then further championships including Formula BMW, Formula 3, and all the way up to join the BMW Williams F1 Team! ā“ and this is just for Open Wheel racing!
The advanced damage model featured within previous versions is set to be enhanced, while Codemasters are promising an increased level of simulation throughout the entire game, accurately simulating full tyre wear, tyre and engine temperatures, fuel consumption affecting weight distribution, and real world engine inertia.
Those who didnāt enjoy the narrative structure of its predecessors will be pleased to note the inclusion of a Pro Career mode, allowing you to jump straight into the action and take control of the worldās most powerful cars.
Featuring an incredible 35 different motorsport disciplines, TOCA Race Driver 3 incloudes British GT (BGTC), Muscle Cars, V8 Supercars, DTM, Monster Trucks, Baja Motocross, Formula Palmer Audi, Historic Grand Prix, Touring Sports Cars, Formula 3, BMW WilliamsF1 Team and many more specialised championships, complete with race rules including flags, warm up laps and full car set up. For the heavyweight touring car racer, there's also the DTM and V8 Supercars Career modes, featuring both series' 2005 seasons, complete with car set ups, practice sessions, qualifying races
Says Gavin Raeburn, Head of Studio and responsible for the TOCA series at Codemasters:
"TOCA Race Driver 3 is a huge project and one we've had in the works for almost a year already. The team are doing an incredible job and taking motorsport gaming to a level that no one else is even touching upon and they're doing it to a hugely advanced point. The refined engine will enable players to really thrash the cars and see the real world results of doing so: radiators will overheat, tyres will burnout, engines will blow - the works.
"This detail means the actual races become far more exciting and tactical. You may be a good enough driver to get to the front of the pack, but can you stay there when your engine is threatening to rip itself out and there's hardly any rubber left on your rims?"
Weāll have more on TOCA Race Driver 3 and a chat with the team soon.
