Codemasters Announce England International Football News

Firxt Xbox Live! football title coming from the officially endorsed Codemasters title...
Having made their first foray into the fiercely fought football genre with âClub Footballâ, Codemasters today announced that it has secured the exclusive rights from the Football Association to develop video games based on the England team.
âEngland International Footballâ is currently in development for the Playstation2 and Xbox, and is set to offer the first online football title for Xbox Live! users â“ hurrahâ¦
Scheduled for release in May and prior to the forthcoming European Championships, âEngland International Footballâ allows players to step into the shoes of Sven-Goran Eriksson and select the team, whilst taking direct control of Rooney, Owen and Beckham onto the pitch and hopefully winning some trophies.
In keeping with the âClub Footballâ design, the game will be entirely branded with the Three Lions design, whilst all players and Sven himself have been modelled in perfect detail â“ right down to the Three Lions badge and World Cup winners star.
20 top European national teams feature in the European Championship game mode. Additionally, England International Football also lets you go intercontinental and play World Cup style tournaments against a further 12 teams from all corners of the globe including Argentina, Brazil, Cameroon, Australia and Japan.
Onto the actual game and Codemsters are promising a number of improvements to the âClub Footballâ engine, including improved shooting, dribbling, referee AI (hopefully not so many red cards this time) and a general increase to the tempo of the game.
Says Nick Wheelwright, Codemasters' Managing Director:
"It's a massive coup to win the rights to the England team for England International Football â“ we can now provide the England football fan with the true England international match day experience. On Xbox, it's immensely pleasing to deliver the first football game ever to feature Xbox Live online play."

At last, football fans can enjoy footie action on Xbox Live, playing together with friends or competing against rivals.
