Activision reveals new titles, as well as two new formats for the next Call of Duty game...

Activision has announced that CoD5 will come to the Wii and PS2, expanding on CoD4's format range of the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and DS. This means that CoD5 will come to six formats in total at some point during fiscal 2008/09 (presumably the traditional November release window).

Speaking to investors in a post-Q3 financial report conference call, Mike Griffiths (Activision's President and CEO) said, "This year we'll add the PS2 and Wii to the line-up, in addition to the PS3, Xbox 360, DS and PC. The large hardware installed base of PS2, and the growing base of the Wii, will benefit the brand especially as these consumers have not had a new Call of Duty for two years."

Rumours have done the rounds lately that the next CoD game will return to the traditional World War II theatre of war, and that it's being developed by Treyarch (a workhorse studio for Activision that developed CoD3). This wide range of formats for CoD5 would certainly fit Treyarch's remit more than it does Infinity Ward's history of PC and next-gen CoD titles.

Griffiths also confirmed a new Spider-Man game during the upcoming fiscal year, as well as a sequel to Marvel Ultimate Alliance. This explains Activision's announcement when they merged with Blizzard last year, whereby they hinted at further games that would take advantage of their Marvel licence.

At the time of this merger announcement, Activision also confirmed further Tony Hawk's and Guitar Hero titles, which were once again confirmed for fiscal 2008/09 (again, presumably during November) in today's conference call.

Griffiths also confirmed that Activision's untitled Bond game will indeed be based on the next Bond film and will release alongside it, as many had guessed.
