CoD4 Knocks Halo 3 Off Live Top Spot News

The combined might of the UK/US Special Forces knock the Master Chief and the Covenant off the most played list...


It may have taken several weeks to achieve, but it's finally done it: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has become the most played title on Xbox Live, supplanting Bungie's Halo 3, which had held the spot since it launched in September 2007.

The list, revealed by Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry 'Major Nelson' Hyrb, puts the Infinity Ward shooter on top of the pile, with the Master Chief's third adventure in second place. Guitar Hero III lands in third, followed by Marcus Fenix and the rest of the COG unit as Gears of War achieves fourth place.

Whether the news of CoD4's chart-topping achievement is significant is anyone's guess, and of course it remains to be seen for how long it can stay there, but considering that Halo 2 wasn't topped for two years (by Gears of War) today's' news has certainly come as something as a surprise.

Because Halo players cant handle the amount of people that have dropped off to play Cod4, i like Halo Just not as much as I like COD4, Killing beasties is ok but...gets a bit....well....dull

The patch added new features as well as important hosting changes. It wasn't just issues, it was making the game better. Maybe the PS3 will get something similar down the line too.

Neither Halo 3 or COD 4 are based on anything true to life at all. Great to see this patch now out though. Hopefully it'll help those sniper rifles especially, because I've found them to be SO hit and miss on that game. Also looking forward to seeing... [ Read full comment... ]

HALO 3 suck. And you can't compare the two games. One is based on actuallty and the other belongs with the unicorns

cod 4 is much better than halo but the halo series is better i never like cod until this came out, great game
