Climax Brighton Studios announce Codename: Avalon for the Playstation3 and Xbox2…

Climax today confirmed that work has begun on its premiere next-generation title, currently in development under the codename âAvalonâ.

The next-generation title is currently in development at their Brighton Studio, and will debut on the Xbox2 and Playstation3. As Climax fans will know, the Brighton Studio is behind their highly successful MotoGP series; besides letting us know the next game will include land, sea and air vehicles, the team let us in on a few details about the title.

âCodename: Avalonâ will make use of Climax Blimey2 engine, claiming to boast âgroundbreaking graphics, sensational sound and the gripping gameplay now expected of all Climax developed gamesâ.

Surprisingly it seems as though the game is in a relatively late stage of development, with the team claiming that an online prototype is currently playable at the Brighton Office; however if Sony or Microsoft donât plan on releasing the next wave of machines until 2006, it looks as though theyâre going to be sitting on this one for awhile.

"This is an exciting, bold stride forward for Climax" enthused Climax's Head Of Brighton Studio Tony Beckwith. "The fact that we're one of the first independent companies to start work on a next generation project reaffirms our commitment to remaining among the development elite."

Tony continued: "Thanks to the Blimey 2 engine, we're way ahead of the curve in the next generation arena. There has been significant interest from publishers already and we are going to take our time to select the right publishing partner for this incredibly exciting game."
