Capcom To Release PSP Puzzle Compendium News

Five-in-one PSP title to be released in the PAL territories in September...

Capcom today confirmed a European release for the PSP puzzle title, Capcom Puzzle World. Bundling together some of the most fondly recalled puzzle titles in videogames history, Capcom Puzzle World includes the excellent Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Block Block and the 3-in-1 Buster Bros collection.

In what Capcom maintains as a first for the PSP, Capcom Puzzle World introduces personalisation features that will heighten the experience

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo benefits from the inclusion of two never-before-released (in Europe at least) modes. In addition to the classic X-Gem breaking mode, Super Puzzle Fighter II: Y finds players grouping similar colours to create groups of three or more; once the colours are lined up, they break and charge up the "Change Gem" meter creating furious chains. Super Puzzle Fighter II: Z follows the same rules as X, but instead of falling blocks, the play field raises with the first to the top loosing. Rotating the gems already on the field

Block Block first made an appearance in arcades throughout 1990, challenging two players to cooperatively destroy blocks, with a shrinking paddle that forces players to complete each stage as quickly as possible.

The Buster Bros Collection was originally released for the Playstation, challenges players to shoot all the bubbles onscreen whilst avoiding being hit. PSP owners can import photos to be used as backgrounds in each of the three games contained.

Each game has been remastered for the PSP, along with the dubious promise of being the first PSP game to feature a "screenshot" mode, something we're pretty sure the forthcoming LocoRoco can hold claim to. Players can upload high scores to one another's PSPs, in addition to Wi-Fi Ad-Hoc support for the various games.

Capcom Puzzle World is slated for release in September; look out for more on the title soon...
